Glaurmir, The Ancient

Hi gang!

Here’s a repurposed membership post from last year, I hope you enjoy!

So here is Glaurmir in all his glory! (Scan) (I've just realised that he's essentially the same design as my club nosed dragon, except he's several times bigger! LOL.

And the process:

This was my first success at using liquid frisket/resist/masking. I am using this:

I tried the windsor and newton one but it was just like glue (and smelled exactly like Copydex - any other folks remember that stinky glue from school?). This one was really great, it paints on pretty well and the brushes aren't ruined afterwards either, so well done Schmincke! I also painted the teeth yellow before covering with the frisket, which worked quite well, all in all, very pleased!

I'm not sure I like using it for everything though as once removed it does feel like the paint resists staining the blocked out areas. I wish I hadn't used it with the ripples around the dragon so much, but I learned a lot with it. It also didn't tear the paper which I have found happen previously. SO... quite exciting that I might be able to employ this in future paintings!

Now it's time for me to get off the internet, I've been so good at not being logged in at weekends, but today was an exception due to submitting my dragon. Have a lovely rest of your weekend everyone!
